OQ does not treat conditions in isolation. We look at the whole body — structure, nervous system, hormonal environment — and work to support the conditions your body needs to find its own balance. → About OQ
“My tests came back normal — but I still feel awful.”
If you’ve been told your hormones are “within range” but your body tells a different story — exhaustion that won’t shift, cycles that feel chaotic, weight that won’t move, a sense that something is just off — you’re not imagining it.
Numbers don’t capture everything. The body’s internal environment — how your nervous system, circulation, structural tension, and gut interact — shapes how your hormones behave in practice. That environment is what we work with at OQ.
Yusuke Sakata (BSc Osteopathy) works primarily with women’s hormonal and systemic health. He sees patients from their 20s through to perimenopause and beyond — including women living in Japan long-term and those visiting Kyoto who want to use their time here well.
Conditions we commonly work with
- PCOS — hormonal regulation, menstrual cycle support, pelvic circulation
- Thyroid conditions (Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism) — alongside your endocrinologist
- Endometriosis — visceral tension, pelvic floor, pain patterns
- Infertility support — whole-body environment alongside fertility treatment
- Irregular or painful periods — structural and visceral contributing factors
- Perimenopause symptoms — fatigue, sleep, nervous system regulation
- Autoimmune conditions (e.g. Hashimoto’s, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis)
- Chronic fatigue and systemic low energy
- Skin conditions (eczema, psoriasis) — gut-immune-skin connection
OQ is not a medical clinic. We work alongside your gynaecologist, endocrinologist, or GP — not instead of them. If you’re currently under medical care, please continue it. We’ll ask about your current treatment at your first visit.
How osteopathy approaches women’s health
The pelvis, abdomen, and thorax form a connected pressure system. Tension in one area — the diaphragm, the pelvic floor, the iliopsoas — creates downstream effects on circulation, lymphatic drainage, and visceral mobility. These mechanical patterns don’t show up on blood tests, but they shape the environment in which your hormones operate.
At OQ, your first session begins with a detailed conversation — your history, your cycle, your current treatment, your daily life. Then a whole-body assessment. Then treatment: gentle, specific, and responsive to what we find.
We don’t force. We don’t use manipulation or cracking. The work is quiet. Many women are surprised by how much shifts from something that feels so subtle.
Frequently asked questions
Q. I’m on medication for my condition. Can I still come?
Yes. Please continue your medication and medical appointments. OQ works alongside medical care, not as a replacement. Bring a list of your current medications to your first visit, or let us know when you book.
Q. I’ve been trying to conceive for a while. Can osteopathy help?
We can’t make promises about fertility outcomes — and we won’t. What we can do is assess and work with the body’s structural and physiological environment: pelvic circulation, visceral mobility, nervous system regulation, hormonal rhythm. Some women find that working with these factors, alongside medical fertility support, changes something. We approach each case honestly and individually.
Q. Is it okay to come during my period?
Yes, it’s fine. Some women actually find it a useful time to come, as the body can be more responsive. Let us know when you book or at the start of your session and we’ll adapt accordingly.
