Our Practitioners

Both practitioners at OQ train in the United Kingdom osteopathic tradition. Below is the full training record of each, and the qualification map showing how we complement each other.

Yusuke Sakata — Clinic Director

I founded OQ in February 2007 after training as an osteopath in the United Kingdom. I treat adults, children, and babies from the first-floor clinic. All my sessions are in fluent English when requested, and most of my international patients choose to work with me for that reason.

Training

  • BSc(Ost), Swansea University, Wales, UK
  • EVOST (Evolutionary Medicine within the Osteopathic Field), Belgium
  • M.I.C.O. (Member of the Institute of Classical Osteopathy), England
  • Mind & Membrain — certified practitioner
  • Ongoing study in evolutionary medicine, developmental biology, and related fields

Focus areas

  • Women’s health, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, gynaecological concerns
  • Paediatrics — babies, infants, children
  • Cranial osteopathy
  • Digestive, visceral, and functional internal concerns
  • Autoimmune conditions and chronic inflammatory patterns
  • Skin conditions with a whole-body cause
  • Complex cases that have not responded to other approaches

How I work

I see every patient personally, from the first visit through to follow-up. I do not delegate treatment. If your case falls outside what osteopathy can help, I will say so at your first visit and point you to someone who can.

Much of how I think about the body comes from evolutionary medicine — understanding the human body as something shaped by millions of years of development, and asking why a symptom is happening rather than only how to relieve it. You will see this reflected in the articles I publish across the site.

Fees (sessions with the Director)

  • First visit, 60 minutes — ¥14,300
  • Follow-up visit, 40 minutes — ¥11,000
  • Follow-up visit, 60 minutes (extended) — ¥16,500
  • Sunday / Holiday Session — ¥18,000

Sota Omura — Co-Director

I work from the second-floor clinic at OQ. I came to osteopathy after years as a licensed Physical Therapist in Japan, including hospital-based work with post-stroke and orthopaedic patients. I am currently enrolled in the BSc(Ost) programme at Swansea University, Wales — the same UK-regulated training as the Director.

Training and qualifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT), Japan
  • MSc in Health Science
  • BSc(Ost), Swansea University, Wales, UK (expected 2026)
  • Additional osteopathic training from multiple institutions in Japan
  • Continuing education in gait analysis and lower-limb biomechanics

Focus areas

  • Post-stroke rehabilitation and recovery
  • Hip and knee conditions
  • Lower-limb pain and dysfunction
  • Chronic low back pain
  • Walking and gait analysis
  • Custom insoles and orthotics

How I work

My background in Physical Therapy means I am comfortable with patients who have had surgery, stroke, or long-term orthopaedic issues. I combine hands-on osteopathic work with movement and gait retraining, and I make custom insoles on site when they are useful.

My English is basic. For international patients, I use translation tools during sessions, and the Director is available for English-speaking intake if needed. Many of my patients are happy to work with me using simple English and translation support.

Fees (sessions with the Co-Director)

  • First visit, 60 minutes — ¥11,000
  • Follow-up visit, 40 minutes — ¥8,800
  • Saturday Session — ¥15,000
