Visiting Kyoto? | OQ Osteopathy for Travellers & Residents

Visiting Kyoto? We Treat Travellers Too.

You don’t need to be a local patient to come in. A lot of people who visit OQ are passing through Kyoto — tourists, business travellers, people on longer stays. If something’s flaring up and you need hands-on help, just book online and come in. No Japanese required.

Is there an English-speaking osteopath in Kyoto?

Yes. Yusuke Sakata BSc(Ost) conducts sessions fully in English. He’s on the ground floor of our clinic in central Kyoto, a short walk or taxi ride from most of the city’s main areas.

Sota Omura (second floor) has basic English and uses translation tools when needed. He specialises in back pain, hip and knee issues, and rehabilitation.

Frequently asked questions for visitors

Do I need to speak Japanese?

No. Yusuke conducts full sessions in English. If you prefer to see Sota, basic communication is possible with translation tools.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. We don’t take walk-ins. Book online at the link below — it takes about two minutes and no phone call is needed.

I’m only here for a few days. Is one session worth it?

It depends on the problem. For an acute flare-up — something that started recently or got worse during travel — one session can make a real difference. For long-standing issues, we’ll be honest: one visit can help, but it’s unlikely to resolve something that’s been building for years. We’ll tell you what we found and what we’d realistically expect.

Can I get a receipt for my travel insurance?

Yes. We can provide a receipt with the clinic name, practitioner credentials, treatment date, and amount paid. Whether your insurer covers osteopathy is between you and your policy — most travel insurance doesn’t, but some do. Check before you come if it matters to you.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash (yen), IC cards (Suica, Pasmo, etc.), and major credit cards. No need to carry cash if you don’t have it.

Where is the clinic?

Central Kyoto, close to Nijo Castle. About 10–15 minutes by taxi from Kyoto Station. The exact address and a map are on our access page.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing is ideal. You may be asked to remove shoes and an outer layer for the physical assessment. No special preparation needed.

Is osteopathy covered by Japanese health insurance?

No. Osteopathy in Japan is entirely self-pay. We do not accept Japanese public health insurance (kenko hoken).
