Sessions are conducted fully in English. His clinic is on the ground floor (1F) of Kyoto Osteopathy Center OQ, in central Kyoto.

How he came to osteopathy

Yusuke was 17 when he read Robert Fulford D.O.’s book Gift of Life, and he began working with people’s bodies that same year. Since then he has put more than 6,000 hours into training, including over 350 seminars and workshops in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Israel, the USA and China, and five years of the EVOST course in Belgium.

He still takes at least ten postgraduate courses a year, and keeps returning to the original writings of A.T. Still, the founder of osteopathy, alongside evolutionary biology and comparative anatomy. In his words, the work feels unfinished, and that is why he keeps learning.

Clinical approach

Yusuke’s practice is grounded in the original writings of A.T. Still, the founder of osteopathy, and informed by evolutionary biology and applied comparative anatomy — a framework developed through his EVOST training. Rather than applying techniques as protocols, he assesses how each patient’s body carries load and moves, and works from there.

He works with patients across a wide range of presentations: musculoskeletal pain, headaches, cranial and visceral complaints, skin conditions, pregnancy and postnatal care, infants from birth, and complex or long-standing conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What is EVOST?

EVOST (Evolutionary Medicine in the Osteopathic field) is a postgraduate clinical training programme that applies evolutionary biology, comparative anatomy, and embryology to osteopathic diagnosis and treatment. It was developed by Max Girardin DO and taught over 20 years at morphologicum in Belgium. The programme concluded in 2026.

Is a BSc(Ost) the same as a DO?

Both are osteopathic qualifications from different eras and systems. A BSc(Ost) is a university degree in osteopathy. A DO (Diploma in Osteopathy) was the traditional qualification before osteopathy training moved to degree level in the 1990s. In the US, a DO is a physician with osteopathic training, which is a different profession. Yusuke holds a BSc(Ost) from Swansea University, Wales, UK.

Does Yusuke treat children and infants?

Yes. Yusuke has worked with babies from just days old, children, and adolescents. He has specific training in cranial and paediatric osteopathy. See the infant osteopathy page for more detail.
