Can osteopathy help with autoimmune conditions?

Osteopathy does not treat autoimmune disease directly or suppress immune activity. It assesses and works on structural, circulatory, and nervous system conditions that may be contributing to symptom burden or limiting the body's capacity for self-regulation. Many patients find that osteopathic care helps with fatigue, pain, digestive symptoms, and general resilience.

Is it safe to have osteopathic treatment while on immunosuppressants or biologics?

Generally yes. We always take a full medication and medical history before treatment. Some medications affect tissue resilience or bone density, which influences the techniques we use. Gentle approaches — cranial, soft tissue, and visceral — are frequently used with patients on complex medication regimens.

How many osteopathy sessions would I need for an autoimmune condition?

This depends on your history and what we find at assessment. For a short visit to Kyoto, one thorough session can provide meaningful insight. For more complex presentations, a course of 4–8 sessions over several weeks tends to be where more significant change occurs. We reassess at every appointment.

Pelvic and Visceral Mobility

The uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes are surrounded by ligamentous attachments and fascial continuity. Restrictions in pelvic alignment, sacral mobility, or visceral mobility can affect the mechanical environment of the reproductive organs.

We assess and treat pelvic structure, uterine ligaments, and visceral mobility in a safe, non-invasive way.

Hormonal and Autonomic Balance

Chronic stress dysregulates the HPA axis, which suppresses reproductive hormone production. We work with the autonomic nervous system — particularly the diaphragm and vagus nerve — to support a physiological state more conducive to conception.

Cycle Support

We can support throughout the menstrual cycle, including pre-ovulation preparation and luteal phase support.

During IVF
